A wonderful place to stay, staff are very helpful and nice. Rooms are modern and clean, great facilities. The restaurant is excellent with a great set dinner menu or alacart.

Clean with efficient service. Thank you

Good location. Plenty of parking space. Room is a bit dated. It will be much better if complementary bottle water provided. It will be great if USB charging port available.

If I can describe this hotel in a singular word, it would be disgrace. Been staying here for a couple of months on work trips, although being geographically located perfectly; With access to the A1 & routes to Sunderland proper. The facilities are lacking to say the least. Don't let the photos fool you, the building is a late 60s design that has been retrofitted to somewhat meet Holiday Inn standards. Both the regular and premium rooms are the same size, being cramped even with just two singular beds. Only differences being additions of amenities such as: mini fridge, coffee machine, two packs of biscuits, pair of bottled water (still & sparkling), pair of Pepsi cans (regular and max), packet of sea salted crisps & a regular kit kat. Rooms show clear signs of decay with although advertised with air conditioning, AC have shown fault codes & are inoperable. With control panels & phones showing severe yellowing or also been inoperable. Still being broken several months after being reported to staff. With a case of the radiator being left on & the valve having been purposefully broken off. Corridors show evidence of spills not been properly cleaned up, wooden frames warping & damp marks on the ceiling. Food can be described as basic, nothing fancy but sometimes you just want something plain. Prices are obviously over the top due to it's proximity to the motorway. However, orders have arrived incorrectly or have varied in quality such as unneeded spice added or pools of fat from meat. Overall, just avoid this hotel if all possible. It's clearly being purposefully run into the ground or is on it's last legs. There are better locations like Newcastle South or Sunderland to stay at.
