What a lovely little hotel. Staff were absolutely lovely. The room was very spacious. People moaning about the rooms being cold is untrue we stayed one night with minus temperatures and the room was lovely. The pressure In the shower nearly took my skin off which is how I like it. Possibly the best steak I have ever had for the evening meal. The breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Can’t wait to go back definitely staying there again. The location is amazing with lovely walks along the canal

Afternoon tea for 2. Visited 18/02/25 Food was ok, a bit limited and could have maybe added a little to it. Tea and Coffee were fine, refills offered. Service, nice lady who seemed to be covering reception, and the dining area which was in a separate building, she was excellent.

Went for afternoon tea after receiving a Groupon voucher. The location is a bit far out, but it was peaceful there. The place has a vintage feel and it’s very quiet. Although the afternoon tea set was quite standard, the service was top notch making it a very nice experience overall.

The only redeeming thing about this hotel is the staff friendliness! Rooms are the most dated I've seen and the coldest I have ever stayed in. Fully dressed, hoodie, joggers and socks on for bed is a first. Shower didn't work as was leaking so had no pressure not that I was willing to get a shower as the room was so cold! Shower head attached to taps style shower. There is a heater but the rooms are so large it never quite made it to a comfortable temperature. Maybe worth popping on when you know the room is booked? Very few plugs sockets in practical places. Upholstery was dirty on the furniture. The guest book describes the wifi as keeping up with the times but it's unsecured. Apparently you can get room service but there was no menu and no telephone so not sure how? Beds are hard and poor quality. Bedding was clean. Room is reasonably clean if you don't look too closely. Actually later noticed the tide mark on the bath 🤯 My neighbour managed to set the fire alarm off by opening his door and there was quite some time before this was reset and there seemed to be no guidance from the staff. Twice! The pictures made it look idyllic but it's in desperate need of updating on all levels. Based on AA ratings it wouldn't actually meet the requirements for a 1 star 😕 Edit: throughout the night the fire alarm went off a total of 4 times as late as 11pm. When I called reception to order room service (from my mobile as no internal phones) it was recommended that I go to reception to collect a menu or order at the bar (maybe you could put the menu on the website)? When checking out there was no staff at reception and the number to call diverted to voicemail so I was unable to obtain a VAT invoice. Now in the car and thawing out 🙄 The website offers little no information unless you're planning on booking a wedding
