An absolutely beautiful hotel. We had a wonderful time from start to finish the service was fantastic. It was my partner’s birthday so we got upgraded and complimentary drinks. We had dinner in the Kings restaurant and Emma, our waitress was exceptionally helpful. Would definitely recommend. The hotel has lovely gems throughout and the grounds are breathtaking !

Two nights stay and enjoyed every minute of it, except for the bed. Pool was lovely as well as the other facilities. Hotel is as good as they say and certainly deserves it's 4 stars. Downside, the bed, which was two singles together was very hard and quite uncomfortable. A strange duvet that can only be described as zipped together inside a cover to make two singles into a king-size. This was the only negative point, the rest of our stay was lovely, relaxing and the food amazing.

Food is not great. Sorry to say, but I had better in the Toby carvery. Breakfast was good. No air-conditioning, so the room was roasting. I had to have the window open all night, so when they started rolling the bins around at 7 AM, we were woken up. There's a security light that doesn't go off which beams straight into the room. Is a shame because the staff are great and the place is very nice.

Really lovely hotel and the staff were great. The 3 stars are for the Irish lad on reception as he is a tremendous asset. HOWEVER, in room 201 the bed was the worst thing I have ever slept on. I have never been so surprised as I’ve had a better night’s sleep on a concrete floor. There is no mattress topper and you can feel every lump and spring in this awful bed. The pillows were like massive hard bricks, far too solid and high. On top of the general quality of the terrible mattress was the insufferable heat. The temperature outside overnight was 14 degrees, the temperature in the room did not drop below 29.5 degrees at any point during the night. We found out why: this room sits directly above the reception back office with all those computers generating constant heat. The cheap fan in the room just pushed the hot air around. I did not get a single second of sleep the entire night and was far too miserable and unwell by the next day to enjoy any of the spa. I would highly recommend to any guest given room 201 to promptly reject it. If you like a few hours of sleep per night you are much better off going to a travel lodge and saving a huge deal of money.

I recently stayed at Old Thorns and had a mixed experience. The spa facilities were fantastic—definitely the highlight of my stay. The staff were also friendly and attentive, which made some aspects of the visit pleasant. However, the room was unbearably hot, making it impossible to get a decent night’s sleep. When I asked to be moved to a different room, they didn’t accommodate my request. Instead, they sent a cheap fan, which did little to cool the room down. I ended up having one of the worst nights due to the heat. The food OMG, unfortunately, was another letdown at some point I ordered a pizza for around £17, and it was shockingly bad so bad that i would not pay more than £5 for it. It was so poor that we could barely manage half a slice each. For the price, the quality was ridiculous and the same with all the other dishes, for two of us it would cost nearly £60 every time we go to the restaurant. Overall, the hotel has potential, especially with its lovely spa and great staff, but the room conditions and food left much to be desired. I hope they improve these aspects, as it has the potential to be a great place to stay, IF I EVER GO BACK IT WOULD BE BECAUSE I FOUND A GREAT DISCOUNT AND BEFORE BOOKING I WOULD CALL AND MAKE SURE I GET A COOLER ROOM.
