Across the road from St. James's Park tube station, the 256-room Conrad St James occupies six floors of a handsome old government building that was converted in 2012. Showcasing some attention-grabbing art, its appeal spans business and leisure, and makes it an attractive venue for seasonal celebrations. With black banquette seating, and dark wood all around, the in-house Blue Boar restaurant has a suitably wintry feel. Its sister bar is similarly snug and has serious vintage appeal, thanks to leather chesterfields, tartan cushions and displays of old gin bottles. Emmeline's lounge is the place for drinks receptions.

December 2024Wow! Amazing experience at the Conrad. Our rooms were ready a little later than expected, but Scarlett handled everything so well and was extremely helpful. All of the staff here is very friendly and kind. The breakfast is amazing. The housekeeping staff was so on top of keeping our room clean and comfortable. Loved this hotel!

March 2025Wow. The Conrad is a special place. A home away from home for my family. In terms of the room, it is extremely clean and well appointed. The beds are cloud-like, the pillows have the perfect “squish” factor to use two. The linens are crisp, clean, with zero “smell” like some other places. The mini bar has tons of options - from spirits, to wine, beers, and sodas. Candies, coffees, and all of the necessary equipment to enjoy - for being so compact, the array is great. The bathroom, an excellent size, though I wish it had more counter space. It is also clean, making you feel comforted knowing you’re getting clean, unworried about a strangers hair or gunk around. Turndown service is spectacular, room service is delicious (honestly some of the better food in London, it’s from the connected pub), and the house keeping staff rocks. I have nothing bad to say around the family room for myself, wife, or daughter. If I had to say one thing it would be the compact size of the room forces extreme organization, which honestly isn’t the worst thing. I also loved the mini robe and mini slippers for my daughter. What a fun touch.

March 2025Upscale hotel near Winchester. Helpful and friendly staff. The room was great. The in-house pub was also very good with excellent service. The apple crisp is highly recommended. The included breakfast buffet was okay, not great.

March 2025We had an amazing time at the Conrad. The location is unbeatable—being right across from the Tube made getting around the city effortless, and we loved how close we were to so many great spots. What truly set this stay apart, though, was the exceptional staff. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. A special mention goes to the Executive Lounge—it was a game-changer for our family, and we made great use of it throughout our stay. We were also fortunate to receive an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite, which was a huge plus when traveling with a child. It made a world of difference and truly enhanced our trip. As a Diamond member, it’s service like this that keeps me coming back. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so great!

March 2025I’ve had many wonderful stays at Conrad properties across the world over the years, but unfortunately the Conrad St James in London isn’t one of them. We recently visited for a 4-night stay and were less than impressed. I will say that the physical location of this property is excellent - it’s proximal to most areas of interest across the city and the St James Park metro station is literally right across the street from the hotel’s entrance. In terms of the negative, there’s absolutely no loyalty recognition at this property - which was a first for me at a Conrad. As a longtime diamond member with 100+ nights stayed last year alone, I was surprised to not have status acknowledged upon check-in and to not receive even a single category upgrade when rooms were clearly available based on online booking availability. To make matters worse, the room itself was terrible - very small and literally overlooked a brick wall. The hotel also bait and switched the room - giving me a low floor room that was not what I selected upon digital check-in. I was also surprised that that there was no welcome gift - at other Conrad properties I’ve received hand written notes with a bottle of champagne, fruit tray, chocolate assortment, etc. Here there was absolutely nothing beyond the standard bottles of water. A final item I’ll flag is that the doors at this property are incredibly loud - every morning beginning at 6:30AM the walls of the room would reverberate as the self closing doors of nearby rooms would slam shut as patrons left and entered. It was horrendous. Needless to say, I won’t be back or recommend this place to others. The quality is not consistent with a 5-star hotel - it’s more comparable to a standard Hilton or even a higher end Doubletree property. That said, if you’re a Hilton loyalist and looking for a higher end experience, I’d recommend The Trafalgar Curio across the park - I’ve stayed there in the past and they not only have more luxurious ambience, higher quality service, and larger rooms, but they take the time to acknowledge customer loyalty in a manner that’s commensurate with the Hilton brand.
