December 2024Really traditonal and fascinating hotel, very comfortable. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long because it was fully booked the days after and our flight was late. Reception has been great, as much as assistance when we had to communicate our delay. A special mention for the breakfast: the chef is really great and cooked one of the best breakfasts we've ever had.

March 2025🚇 Herne Hill 🍺 £5.90 Amstel The Half Moon is located in the heart of Herne Hill in South London. The nearest station is Herne Hill mainline. There has been a pub on this site since around 1760. The pub you see today was built in 1896 and is Grade-II listed. This was once a popular venue for live music, hosting world-famous acts including U2, Van Morrison, Frank Sinatra and David Bowie. In August 2013, the pub was forced to close after a water-main burst, causing five feet of flooding. After concerns from the local community that the pub would be lost, the pub was granted ACV status. Fuller’s beautifully restored this Victorian pub to its former glory, which reopened in March 2017. This is a traditionally decorated two bar pub that oozes Victorian charm. The main bar is a good size and stretches down to a dining area at the rear. To the left of the main bar behind a stunning partition wall is a second room with a beautiful servery and an intimate snug. Everywhere you look, there are amazing features including wood panelling, chandeliers, engraved mirrors and leaded windows. At the rear of the pub is a spacious beer garden with covered booths and an outside bar. This pub has a good selection of beers which included a couple of cask ales. I decided on an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was below average. There is classic pub grub menu available, Fish & Chips costs £18.50, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived around 2.30pm on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in September. The pub was quiet inside, as almost every punter was outside lapping up the sunshine in the beer garden. The atmosphere was upbeat with a nice buzz emanating around the beer garden, the service was pleasant and courteous. This is a very handsome pub indeed and thankfully it was saved by the local community and lovingly restored by Fuller’s. All in all, this was a most enjoyable pub experience, @thehalfmoonpub is a stunning boozer, a must visit if you’re in the area. 📅 21st September 2024

February 2025We stayed here for the first time when visiting family. The hotel is very well located, with direct bus connexion to central London (bus 68). The room was big enough to have a spare bed for our son. Very comfortable bedding. Everything was very clean. The breakfast choice was varied, with fresh fruit, and freshly made hot dishes. We had dinner twice in a row in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious (salmon, chicken Milanese, fregola salad, plant-based burgers, kids menu). Finally, the staff was amazing. Special shout-out to the lady at breakfast on Friday and Saturday, and the lady who served our table during dinner on Friday and Saturday evening. We will stay here again on our next visit.

March 2025Came in here for a lovely lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Friendly and speedy service, yummy food, great atmosphere and decor. Great location to stop off at if you're walking around Brockwell Park. My uncle lives nearby and comes here a lot! Baby friendly - high chairs and plenty of space for my pram.

February 2025Went for meal in the restaurant, waitress was busy on her mobile phone so waited a while to be seated. Restaurant was not busy, placed order for food and drinks, which were served in a reasonable time. Whilst eating our meal a mouse was running from under the sofa seating to the radiator and back, it did this many times while we were seated in the restaurant. Food was OK but wine was expensive, we mentioned to the two waitresses about the mouse to be told it was mentioned to me last week by a customer I did tell my manager about it. We walked past the manager as we left but he did not apologise or say it was being dealt with. We will not be returning to The Half Moon Pub, don't want to see mice while seated in a restaurant eating. Awful experience.
