Hawksmoor Guildhall, the much-loved steakhouse Hawksmoor can be found on Basinghall Street in what's rumoured to be the world's first steakhouse in The City. The restaurant is 2 minutes away from Bank Station.
The Sublime Society Room
A room dedicated to the actors, artists and songsmiths who founded the Sublime Society of Beefsteaks back in 18th Century London. Part members’ club, part secret society, this boho group met weekly to consume vast quantities of beefsteak and booze – just punch, port or porter, no fancy French wines allowed. Before long, everyone wanted in. Even the Prince Regent (soon-to-be King George IV).
The Private Dining Room in Hawksmoor Guildhall, a short walk from Bank, boasts a 24 person dining table centered in an elegant wooden panelled room which pays tribute to the medieval history of The City of London, making this a unique space for a range of events; from dinner & lunches to large gatherings of friends and family. The discrete audio visual equipment, including a 80” screen also makes the space suitable for meetings and presentations.
Cocktail receptions are available on arrival, there are three specially designed sharing menus to choose from, which offer a chance to sample a range of Hawksmoor classic dishes, our team can also suggest wine pairings that are tailored to your choice of menu.

Superb experience! I selected this restaurant in order to eat my first Sunday Roast, and to be honest I’ll never forget that experience! In addiction I really enjoyed to drink something on the bar before to get a table. All the staff were really focused to everyone and about every detail! Well done!!!

Not a lot of experience with steakhouse but... The food was excellent. Starters particularly a highlight - we had the ash beetroot, bone marrow and pot beef with Yorkshire pudding. Steak was melt in your mouth and really well cooked and seasoned. Fries so tasty and the bone marrow was such a good portion size with big bones which was nice. One of the best sticky toffee puddings in London top! Only slightly negative comments r.e food would be the buttered greens only being cabbage? Was slightly disappointing as we would have wanted more variety. My sister also thought the burger was slightly overcooked. Service was excellent, personable, friendly, fun, and most importantly attentive! Thank you Richard for your work! We attended for graduation celebration and were gifted a large pour of Muscat with dessert which was appreciated. Atmosphere - compared to other hawksmoor locations I think this one is not quite as impressive but it is sitll nice and perhaps this is a good thing giving choice of the vibe.
