The Queen is in residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse during Holyrood week, which usually takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July. Then the Scottish variant of the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom is flown, and the Royal Company of Archers forms Her Majesty's ceremonial bodyguard.
The Queen received His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI at Holyroodhouse during The Pope’s official visit to the UK in September 2010. The gift presented by His Holiness to Her Majesty, a facsimile of the Lorsch Gospels, is on display at the Palace.

Very impressive. The royal residence of the king is grand and rich in history. Will not disappoint. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous, and the view from the inside is amazing. The gift shop offers something for everyone. Visitors are not disappointed.

The palace is worth a visit. You cannot do any photography within the palace because it is still used. But the history and the beauty is fascinating. The outside grounds are lovely and the Abbey, although in repair, is also another site to see! Make a reservation! The audio tour really brings it to life.

A visit to Hollywood Palace is well worth the admission price. Would recommend taking an audio guide as it added lots of points of interest. You get to see a lot of the palace and get a real sense of the history that has happened and still happens there. The cafe was also nice and reasonably priced. The gardens are beautiful and maintained beautifully. A definite bucket list item on a trip to Edinburgh/Scotland

Nice historic Royal Palace in the centre of Edinburgh, take the audio tour system, wander round at your own pace and enjoy. The staff are friendly, helpful and informative. Nice cafe with many good food options throughout the day, toilets are fresh and clean.

Not as famous as the Edinburgh castle but well worth the visit. Not as crowded either. Really nice architecture and the audio tour tells you all about the history. Also a walk through the park and it’s abbey is worth it. Highly recommended.
