The Royal Mile certainly has history: when you walk down the street you start at an extinct volcano aptly named Castle Rock where the impressive Edinburgh Castle sits. As you continue down a slope that was formed by the retreat of an ice age over 325 million years ago to the grandiose Holyrood Palace at the foot of the Royal Mile.

Providing unparalleled accommodation when you stay in Edinburgh, No.32 Hotel is a breath of fresh air and really is quite unlike anywhere you’ve ever stayed before.

Astonishingly rude owner. We confirmed (TWICE) before we arrived that we could check in slightly early (usual check in time is 3pm and we arrived at 2:15 pm). We made specific plans around the expectation that we'd be checked in before 3pm. When we arrived the owner was INCREDIBLY rude and abrasive - he asked "where are you from?" as part of an insinuation that we didn't understand local customs and were trying to check in early because we were dumb foreigners - first of all my fiance is Scottish, so you can't pull the "you don't know how it works here" card, and secondly, like I said above, we had confirmed our check in time TWICE. The owner also couldn't find our check in slip (eventually found it but initially looked like he didn't have our booking on file) for a while. We had to sit and wait and that messed with specific plans we had made for the day. Lastly, he reeked of alcohol which didn't make the interaction any more pleasant. The location is good and the room was OK so it's a real shame that the owner's complete and utter lack of ability to interact normally with other human beings ruined the experience completely.
