Located in the heart of Birmingham, The Botanist (Gas Street Basin) is a short walk from New Street Station, Broad Street or Symphony Hall. This extensive venue is split across two floors, each with its own bar and dining areas, and boasts one of the best beer gardens in the city centre (as voted in 2019).
With multiple private dining rooms throughout, this is the perfect setting for any special occasion and unforgettable parties. The deliciously casual menu is designed with you in mind, so you can feel like you’re eating your favourite home-cooked meal just without the fuss. They host several events throughout the year and live music every weekend. The whole venue is also completely dog-friendly - there's literally no better reason to visit.
In the summertime, you can enjoy a beer in the sun with extraordinary canal side views, but not to worry... from October to March* their Pergola will be open for all, a stunning winter terrace, so you can enjoy dinner with a view all year round.
Located towards the rear of the restaurant, this is the ideal space for an intimate catch up with friends and family, an important meeting, a smaller hen party and plenty more. The stunning décor lends itself for amazing photos!

March 2025Can’t say I really enjoy the food here, they have a really good selection of dishes, but it’s too international, they tend to be a master of none. At least the baked cheese and bread was tasty. So was the crispy duck and wrap. Overall environment is really nice and relaxing. The staff are really nice and friendly. After dinner, we went downstairs for some drinks and listen to the live singing performance, which was really enjoyable.

March 2025Went for brunch on a Saturday morning. They didn’t seem quite ready for customers but all was good once they got going. Lovely spot overlooking the canal basin. Looked like a great set up outside with an external kitchen.

February 2025I had been wanting to visit for quite a while and when we did eventually come, I left disappointed. I was served the wrong drink 3 times. The meal itself was okay. Nothing special. Their “famous kebab skewer” really wasn’t worth the heavy price you pay for what little you get. And it was just a bit meh. Location is fantastic and the lights light up the canal really nice. It was a shame as we wanted to come and it was really nice scenic wise, to be let down by the food. Atmosphere was great too as they had a man & woman duo on at the time who we great
