STEAK PLEASE 🥩✨ 📍 Farringdon, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 £££ 🍴 If you're after the best #steak in London, look no further than The Grill at @thisissmiths—located in Smithfield, the historic heart of UK butchery. Head Chef Tim Dela Cruz has crafted a classic yet creative menu, making it the ultimate spot for a steak night. We ordered the 7oz #Fillet steak with bone marrow butter and the 9oz #Sirloin with peppercorn sauce—both were juicy, tender, and packed with flavour 🥩👌 The sides were just as standout: triple-cooked chips and the rich, comforting braised ox cheek with onion gravy mash (my new obsession!). To pair with the meal, we chose a 2022 Chardonnay, Mâcon-Villages. And don’t skip dessert! The Coconut #pannacotta with mango & lime and the Dark #chocolate delice with salted caramel were the ideal sweet finish. What a date night! 🍷✨

Smiths of Smithfield No.3 rooftop used to be a firm favourite of mine, a go-to for top-quality steaks and a great atmosphere. However, after not visiting for years, I finally returned and sadly, I won’t be back! The service was excellent, and the views over London remain as stunning as ever, but when a restaurant is famed for its steak, you expect it to deliver. Unfortunately, both our 9oz sirloin (£39) and the 32oz côte de boeuf (£140) were under-seasoned and distinctly average. For a bill north of £500, I’d hoped for something memorable in a good way. Smiths has lost its magic and with so many great steak options in London, I can’t recommend it anymore. A real shame. (PS I didn’t even got my watercress garnish 😅)
