Passing through the country lanes of Cheshire you can view the Castle on top of the Peckforton Hills from quite a distance away, be it that the surrounding forest hides all but a small part. As you turn off the lane and pass through the magnificent gate house, your journey is almost complete but the amazing experience continues. The meandering driveway takes you through the forest which in itself is of special scientific interest and then suddenly through the trees appears a large but beautiful fairytale castle. Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century the Hotel is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country. Over the years the Castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Dr Who and more recently Coronation Street. The stunning exterior has now been complimented by a lovingly refurbished interior which houses 48 bedrooms and truly magnificent entertaining rooms.
Peckforton Castle holds monthly open evenings given you the opportunity to meet with our wedding coordinators and view the castle function rooms beautifully dressed. Please see our events calender on our website for further details

January 2025A stunning setting for a night away or I would guess a beautiful wedding. From the entrance you are greeted with a stunning building. Everywhere we went was kept very nice and to high standards. We went for the suite which had a sitting room and bedroom just as big as each other. The service I can not fault at all everyone was so helpful. Food was good.

February 2025My wife and I booked the valentines day special with a four course fixed menu. The meal was sensational. In summary it was bread, scallops, wood pigeon, cauliflower and souffle. The food was beautifully presented, served by attentive staff in a glorious location. What a brilliant occasion for a very fair price. Well done Peckforton Castle.

January 2025Loved it here! The hotel itself is beautiful, and looks stunning at night time. It’s set well back off the main road, so all you hear is blissful peace and quiet in your room. My partner booked this as a surprise Christmas present for me, and we have already booked to go back again. The staff are lovely and friendly. Breakfast was also so good! You can pick which meal you would like off the menu (some options have a small surcharge but otherwise it was included in our room rate) and it’s all brought out to you. You can also help yourself to fruits, cereals, pastries etc whilst you wait. Would definitely recommend.

January 2025Perfect 2 nights stay at this beautiful Castle. Bedrooms are stunning, well equipped and finished to an extremely high standard. Quality furnishings & fittings, everything you need. Luxurious bedding & toiletries and beautifully clean. Bars & Restaurants, great atmosphere, delicious food and great menu choices for both food & drinks. Public areas are well maintained and the design is in keeping within the character of the Castle. Outstanding friendly service from all the staff who can't do enough for you from arrival all the way through to departure. Perfect destination and can highly recommend. We have loved our couple of days of pure luxury and will definitely return.

March 2025An amazing location and breathtaking setting of a castle. The rooms in their majority are of a high standard and capturing very well the magical feeling of staying in a castle. High quality food as well that will satisfy pretty much everyone. The service experience however is somewhat disappointing. The venue is clearly understaffed, even though individually people will do their best to help and provide a good service, there is lack of training or lack of communication between the teams and sometimes a 'cant be arsed' attitude. Especially when a wedding is involved there seems to be miscommunication between the teams that will affect the overall result. If they hire more people and train them properly the place will truly shine.
