Passing through the country lanes of Cheshire you can view the Castle on top of the Peckforton Hills from quite a distance away, be it that the surrounding forest hides all but a small part. As you turn off the lane and pass through the magnificent gate house, your journey is almost complete but the amazing experience continues. The meandering driveway takes you through the forest which in itself is of special scientific interest and then suddenly through the trees appears a large but beautiful fairytale castle. Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century the Hotel is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country. Over the years the Castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Dr Who and more recently Coronation Street. The stunning exterior has now been complimented by a lovingly refurbished interior which houses 48 bedrooms and truly magnificent entertaining rooms.
Peckforton Castle holds monthly open evenings given you the opportunity to meet with our wedding coordinators and view the castle function rooms beautifully dressed. Please see our events calender on our website for further details

Stayed over for a Birthday celebration, absolutely lovely location. Slight trek from the car park to the entrance which could cause issues to people with mobility issues. The castle is amazing, so many original features. The staff were lovely and well informed. Our room was large and well equipped, a slight issue with the cleanliness in the bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked. Overall a really nice weekend.

We got married at Peckforton Castle in November and as a venue they were second to none. Their wedding planning team were brilliant and ensured all questions were answered at any and all stages. Molly was our planner who was just the best and on the day Tammy ensured the day ran smoothly and without issue. Couldn't recommend enough.

The rooms are spacious and are very clean but the rooms on the first floor are getting ready for an update being a little tired in places. The food in the 1851 restaurant is very good with a decent selection. Breakfast is good quality and it is nice to be served. You help yourself to continental which, I feel, could have more choice. All the staff are polite, courteous and helpful. The hotel and grounds are well kept. A stay here is recommended.

Having got married in the castle 10 years ago, we Try and visit every couple of years. The staff on the bar and restaurants were lovely. This time will probably be the last time sadly. The room was freezing and despite bringing it to the attention of the reception it took 4 hours before we has any heat. The bar continually had to go and get which ever wine my husband requested from elsewhere. Bar inadequately stocked. Food was lovely but not blown away with the tired menu which was on a paper that was crumpled. Our overview is that the luxury had gone. Its a hotel that is making money out of weddings but not catering to individual clients. Needs much better management. You have taken your eye off the ball Peckforton... sorry

Booked into hotel for a 2 night stay. There were 2 weddings on during our stay, both were very noisy both outside the room window and in the corridor the room was located in from mid afternoon till the early hours of the morning. The room I was in was directly next to a fire door (Room 110) which constantly banged when anyone opened it. The reason for the banging on the wall is due to a broken door stop that is attached directly to the wall of the room rather than the floor - which might have helped. Because of the weddings people in various states of inebriation were coming in and out up until 05:30 each night, additionally to the banging door impromptu parties in the rooms after the wedding made it impossible to sleep. The second night there were children screaming and running up and down the corridor. I asked to move rooms on the morning after the first night to be told it was impossible as the hotel was fully booked. Further issues with the rom were loose floorboards, nails poking through the carpet (Yes - really) see photos and stains on the walls. The residents bar was out of bounds on the first evening due to being booked by the wedding party and the restaurants are almost always fully booked and you have to find a pub (which was excellent) off site if you are not in the wedding party. The management staff promised to address the issue, but didn't appear to have done anything, 2 kind staff members setting up a room helped by covering the door stop with a towel, which helped, but alas this was removed during the night so the door became unbearable again. Breakfast whilst OK was off a menu where anything other than plain coffee or tea cost extra - you can't have a cappuccino unless you pay extra, the continental breakfast was poor and only consisted of extremely limited selections. Overall for what is purported to be a luxury venue that charges circa £200 for B & B per night I was completely disappointed and could not recommend this venue if you are a regular guest. Avoid and definitely avoid room 110.
