Nestled in the heart of Abingdon’s charming market town, The Kings Head & Bell is a historic pub brimming with character. This traditional venue has roots in English history—during the Civil War (1642-1651), it is said that King Charles I himself stayed here, using the inn as his operational hub. With nearby parking options and a rich story to tell, The Kings Head & Bell offers a unique setting for any event. Perfect for those seeking a venue that combines heritage, warmth, and a touch of historic flair!
On the first floor, The King Charles Room offers a unique, characterful space for private events, with capacity for up to 80 people standing or 50 seated (30 for weddings). This historic room features a fully stocked private bar, dedicated restroom facilities, and a secluded balcony overlooking the garden—perfect for guests to enjoy a bit of fresh air without leaving the event space.
Whether you’re hosting a business meeting or a celebration, The King Charles Room is equipped for every occasion. A very cute place to stay, I would definitely come back! They also welcome our dog for 10 euros a night. Only complaint is the hallways smelled funny. We would come back again and stay for dinner next time.

Great place, great food and a lush selection of Belgium beers. Locally sourced produce, cosy rooms and lovely green surroundings. Dog friendly. Biker friendly.
