Decent hotel, rooms clean, spacious, friendly staff, quiet in middle of Gosforth park. Little older style much better than modern souless hotels, would have been top hotel in its day. Good value for money.

Wen went for our 10 year wedding anniversary Gave us a twin room 2 singles even though asked for double when booked Then asked to upgrade Told full Receptionist was full of coke bless her but she should not have been working she was not welcoming at all directed us to a room not clear at all and spoke too fast said sorry what was that I missed the rest from go up first flight of stairs, she just looked at us funny I said never mind we will find it took a while but got it, Spa should have charged us £5 pp with us having a room they charged us £15 each then gave us a free spa day in return to make up for it but thinking about it still doesn’t add up, Men’s bathrooms mucky all around the seat Cold punge full of water bottles I pulled 5 of them out This was the Marriott when we were there last and was great It is now the Grand and I would rather stay in a Premier Lodge across the road and just paid for the spa passes, wasn’t good Absolutely gutted as was our anniversary and thought would be nice for old memories We did t let that spoil it we ate across the road at falcons nest and had a drink Beautiful it was, And the spa was also lovely apart from those bits I mentioned all in all we had a lovely time personally but accommodation was bad unfortunately sorry (wish I had my phone in the spa bit to show the mess)

Husband and I have stayed at The Grand a few times now when visiting Newcastle. Usually had a pleasant experience and got a free upgrade this time around thanks to one of lovely ladies on the night staff. However, one of the ladies at the reception , Rebecca has been nothing less than rude and unwelcoming a few times we have been. We have never left a negative review as we felt like the rest of the staff makes up for it but it is such a shame for her to continue to have the same bad demeanour. She mutters under her breath when you ask for a simple request and evidently rolls her eyes as well. Not sure if her assumption is that we don’t speak English but rest assured, we very much understand. Such a shame but otherwise the rest of the staff is lovely.

I used this Hotel to hold a meeting, I have been looking for somewhere outside of Newcastle centre to have meetings. Lovely place and very nice staff, however I parked up and I did not see a sign anywhere for parking payments. I used the facility for 2 hours, was happy to order coffee, lunch, cake etc. Then I get a bill through the post for £100 parking fine for 2 hours. There were no signs I saw anywhere. I was not in a rush, I would have seen the parking signs. It is disgusting this is allowed.
