Very cosy hotel in a lovely setting. Lots of history for the building. We stayed in room 16 and loved the quirkiness of the steps to the bathroom, where there was a very nicely sized bath however the power shower wasn’t the greatest. The staff were very helpful and always about if you needed them. We did have to choose our breakfast time, which seemed odd but all went smoothly. The fact that this hotel has direct access into the Dale End Park means a lovely walk is right on your doorstep

Just had the most wonderful stay last weekend. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Food was superb and what a beautiful location. Such great value too! We will be back.

We had a baby shower in a private room just off the bar area. I made contact with the hotel several times before the event and I have to say, nothing was too much trouble, every request was granted. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty plus there was a constant top up of tea and coffee. The service was excellent and every member of the staff were very attentive and professional. I would definitely recommend the hotel without hesitation.

Booked for a couple of nights in cold January. Good location 10 minutes walk to town. Easy check-in, pleasant staff, good decor. Executive double room on 1st floor, no lifts in building. Room large and clean, 4 poster bed, tea/coffee, hair dryer, TV, no fridge - not needed the room was freezing. Would have thought they would have pre-heated the room. Was offered extra blankets and a heater if required. Room heated up eventually, the bathroom no longer freezing, just very cold. In keeping with the decor large windows, no double glazing. Bed very comfortable, but woken by piped music from the bar/restaurant below. Later on, 11.30pm, visited the empty bar and asked the staff to turn off the music. Otherwise might be worth a stay, just don't book an executive double room.

My wife and I booked into this hotel for a short break of two nights, as a bit of an escape. However when we checked into our room we were really quite disappointed, there were some small cobwebs on the walls behind the bed, the toilet bowl was filled with a suspicious yellow-green liquid which I am telling myself was some cleaning product, and the room was dark and not inviting. As our time in the room progressed the bedroom and the bathroom also got increasingly hot, until it was unbearable - despite both thermostats being set to the lowest temperature. The only way we managed to get to sleep in the end was leaving all the windows, curtains and blinds open. Despite booking directly through Best Western - we were given by far the smallest room, as seen by the fire escape map in our room, despite the hotel being really rather quiet. On our last day we were also woken by building work at 7am, which continued throughout the morning. To get to the breakfast on our final morning we had to duck under people working in the attic on step ladders - whilst dodging their strewn tools. On that final day, when we did make it to breakfast they had no note of us so they had cleared everything away, despite being booked in the previous day. Fortunately the service in this hotel was generally really good, so they apologised, and put together our breakfast and really made us feel welcome. Whilst the room was a massive let down, the service of the hotel was good, the location is really close to Ironbridge - being well placed - and the food for their dinner was fantastic! It just wasn't the romantic get away we were wanting.
