Private dining has become increasingly popular among us Brits, and it’s not surprising, who doesn’t love food?
From intimate dinner dates with the misses, to lunches with clients to talk over business, food is just a great way of communicating and bonding. But, what used to be at the heart and centre of private dining, has now shifted. No longer are people just expecting good food, more and more people are now seeking an experience. For the ultimate private dining experience you’ll want to consider not only food, but also the setting, location and ambiance. So, here’s a few tips and tricks to ensure you get the most out of your dining event, whatever the occasion… And, of course I’m unveiling the top notch venues across the UK.
Tip 1. Book in advance: No matter how big or small the event is make sure you’ve booked the space well in advance! Any good private dining restaurant is bound to be booked up quickly. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that because it’s not a “peak time” that a venue has a private dining space available. You’ll be incredibly surprised at how many people are thinking the exact same thing. There are thousands of people who seek private dining spaces, so book early
Tip 2. Make sure the space isn’t too open planned: The whole point of private dining is that it’s private. You can still appreciate the ‘buzz’ of a restaurant or venue without having to be surrounded by the chaos of it all. This is especially important if you’re planning to make speeches or when you’re having a meeting. The last thing you’ll want is to come leave with no voice or a deafened ear after having to compete with outside noise. However, you’ll also want to ensure that you’re not in a room which is too closed off and secluded that it gives your guests claustrophobic vibes. It can be much harder to find a balance between the two than you’d think, but too much of either of the other will completely ruin your dining experience.
Tip 3. Prelook over the menu: It sounds so obvious, I know, but I’m telling you I’ve heard one too many stories of dining disasters. Not only should you look over the menu before booking a private dining space to see whether the food will live up to your taste buds’ standards, but you’ll also want to make sure that the menu has options which can cater to any special dietary requirements. Can the menu cater to any pescatarians, vegetarians, diabetics or allergens? If you’re unsure, do your guests a favour and ask the restaurant beforehand.
