We went to look at Principal Edinburgh venue hire options to see if the rumours of it being the premier spot in town were true.
A known haunt of the city’s most important visitors, The Principal Edinburgh venue hire is the cream of the crop. From Robert Burns to Kylie Minogue, you’ll certainly be in good company at the Principal Edinburgh. First built in 1870, this charming hotel has been beloved by successive generations ever since. And, after a recent update in 2015 by Goddards Littlefair, it’s now better than ever. We certainly love what the acclaimed interior design agency has done with the venue. By paying tribute to the romantic, natural colour scheme of the Scottish countryside, they’ve upgraded the elegant and luxurious character of the hotel with an award-winning refurbishment.
Given its varied history, it’s no surprise that there’s a surplus of impressive spaces to explore at The Principal Edinburgh. The King’s Hall was particularly impressive. Ornate mouldings and Greek pillars reach up to the great domed skylight and famous chandelier. As soon as you walk in, there’s an immediate impression of grandeur. We certainly all agreed that it would make a fantastic place for a Christmas party or a wedding. And, combined with almost a century’s experience of refined hospitality, this space is a real show stopper. In fact, any party or large scale event would do well in such a setting. Can you imagine counting down to the New Year under that ceiling?
Room for business and romance
Edinburgh is Scotland’s financial centre as well as its capital. The Principal Edinburgh George Street anticipates these needs with a range of business spaces. From intimate rooms suited for small interviews and catch-ups to ornate boardrooms, it’s a sought-after venue to hire for accelerating any business activities. Moreover, natural light and sweeping views over the city are prominent features of many of the rooms. In contrast to the typical, stuffy hotel meeting rooms we’re often faced with, the rooms at Principal Edinburgh felt airy and bright.
Given the availability of over-night accommodation as well as venue hire, conferences and weddings are both common at the hotel. Even if you’re not intending to put up your guests in their luxury rooms, the spaces are ideally suited to hosting important events. Perhaps our favourite space for hire was the private roof terrace with a stunning view of the Firth of Forth, and indeed the whole city. It would make a wedding reception venue to remember. Although, for those with vertigo, maybe one of the indoor rooms would be more suited! Furthermore, its placement on George Street means you’re in walking distance of all the city’s landmarks and amenities.
