There’s been a lot of talk in the past week or so about Christmas parties being cancelled and what the right thing to do might be. We can’t tell you what to do but what we can tell you is what other organisers are doing and give you some guidance to help you make a better decision. We’re giving you the latest news on Christmas Parties 2021.
Only 6% of businesses have postponed
These bookings have not been cancelled, they’ve just been moved to January. Some of these have been moved due to travel restrictions by organisers with teams from elsewhere in the world. Read more about the trending January Christmas Party here.
Almost 22% have confirmed they’re going ahead
We’ve reached out to all our organisers of Christmas parties and asked if they’re still comfortable going ahead and we’ve already had 22% say that they will go ahead and some of those have already happened.
Our booking rate is up more than 50% from 2019
This means that more Christmas parties are actually going ahead than in 2019. We see a high willingness to get the team together still and reconnect, all the while making a big effort to keep everyone safe.
Over a quarter (26%) of 18–24 year olds would consider leaving if social events such as Christmas parties were cancelled
This number is pulled from research we conducted a while back and you can access it here. With this said we think it’s very important that you keep your employees safe and do what feels best for the team. But it’s of importance to remember that company get-togethers serve an important purpose for many team members and it’s a good opportunity to really spend quality time with your employees.
Virtual events
If you’ve made the decision to postpone meeting in person this year, we still have a wide range of virtual events such as cooking classes, creative workshops, and virtual events that are great substitutes for an actual party. Check out some ideas here.
